Lost Vikings Full Guide: Triple the Trouble!

Hello HeroesHearth! I am Allathonis, a self-proclaimed TLV one-trick and lover of the hero, with over 150 games as them. Since getting over their learning curve, I sport a 58%+ winrate with them. I recently got to level 13 with them.
If you have any questions or feedback about this build, add me on Battle.net or send me a message through Heroeshearth! :D

The purpose of this guide/build is to introduce Vikings to those who would like to play them, but don't quite know where to start, or to educate more seasoned Vikings players on why they're making their talent choices. I hope this guide helps you learn a bit more about how to play, and play with, The Lost Vikings.

For the Talents section, the Notes will have two parts.
• Talents you should be picking if you play Vikings consistently, and why they are strong.
•Talents that may be a good choice if you are trying to learn TLV. Luckily, the talent tree sports many options for a new Vikings player, allowing them to worry more about keeping each individual Viking alive and soaking, rather than worrying about using their abilities.

Before we dive into the Talent build, here are some quick tips for Vikings.

If you double tap any of the "Select Vikings" keys (1, 2, 3 keys) It will quickly move your camera to this Viking. This is a wonderful tool that I use to quickly get any Viking out of harms way when it is being attacked.

The mini-map is your best friend as a Vikings player! It allows you to move each Viking out of harm before the attacker even comes. A good example of this is on Blackheart's Bay. If your team controls the Watchtower between the mid and bot lanes, you can spot any gank if you are watching the mini-map, and avoid dying. Watching the mini-map is a habit you will have to learn if you want to become a great Vikings player.

How do I play with a Vikings on my team?

There are a lot of misconceptions about playing with a Vikings on your team, and you should generally have a plan while you are drafting. Heroes that can rotate and gank well are key with this Hero. Heroes such as E.T.C., Diablo, Kael'thas, and other roaming Heroes are fantastic at creating space for the Vikings to soak and forcing the enemy team to soak lanes while objectives are ongoing.

During the game, you should not be pushing out lanes, as it prevents the Vikings from getting soak safely. Simply rotate from lane to lane and gank enemy heroes. Stall objectives out for as long as possible to allow you to get ahead and win the game. Do not soak a lane that a Viking is in, you are wasting time you could otherwise be spending taking camps, objectives, etc.

What maps should I be choosing TLV on?

Excellent Viking maps:
Cursed Hollow, Towers of Doom, Garden of Terror, Warhead Junction
Decent Viking maps:
Sky Temple, Blackheart's Bay, Dragon Shire, Infernal Shrines, Battlefield of Eternity
Bad Viking maps:
Braxis Holdout, Haunted Mines, Tomb of the Spider Queen

Thank you for reading this introduction, and without further ado, here is the Talent build I use for the Vikings.
Viking Bribery
Enemy Minions or captured Mercenaries killed near your Hero grant you stacks of Viking Bribery. Use 40 stacks to bribe target Mercenary, instantly defeating them. Does not work on Bosses. Maximum stacks available: 100.
Nearly all games you will be going Viking Bribery, as it allows you to steal enemy camps consistently, giving you space to soak as the enemy team is forced to clean up the Mercenaries.
If you are a new Vikings player and are still getting used to the micromanaging, feel free to use Explosive Attacks or Spy Games. Spy Games in particular will allow you to focus on the other two Vikings more.
Mercenary Lord
Non-Boss Mercenaries near your hero deal 50% more damage. Reduces damage taken from Minions and Mercenaries by 50%.
Mercenary Lord is a great choice at this tier, as it has good synergy if you take Viking Bribery at level 1. If you choose Explosive Attacks or Spy Games at level 1, I would advise taking Erik the Swift here. It makes Erik nigh unkillable if he's moving, and hardly anyone in the game can catch up to him. Pain Don't Hurt is the talent you should choose if you are going Baelog Build, which can be a great choice for when you are learning TLV.
Spin To Win!
Activate to have each Viking deal 101 damage to nearby enemies.
Spin to Win! is the cornerstone of any Vikings game. It allows for quick burst on any hero, especially at 16 if you choose Large and In Charge, allowing Olaf to stun. There is barely a situation where you will not choose Spin to Win.
If you are learning TLV, Baelog the Fierce is a great talent that allows Baelog to clear waves extremely quickly in conjunction with Explosive Attacks at 1.
Play Again!
Summon, fully heal, and revive all Lost Vikings at target location after a Viking channels for 2 seconds. Only one Viking may attempt to summon at a time.
Play Again! is a great tool to reposition, revive, and flank the enemies as the Vikings. Play Again is great as it allows you to always be soaking, and teleport in if needed in a fight or gank. It can also be used to revive dead Vikings after a fight!

Longboat Raid is also a great Heroic, one which I ALWAYS pick against Li-Ming, as to prevent her from getting resets. Boat is almost a "Get Out of Jail Free" card, and gives you an extra health bar to work with. Beware though, you must have all your alive Vikings together to use it.
Makes all Vikings Invulnerable and able to pass over enemies for 1.5 seconds.
Jump is the best talent on this tier, and one of the few ways they can increase their survivability, which is why it is nearly always picked. Jump! is simply the answer to many problems you will have in a Vikings match. Zeratul jumping you? Press Jump. Li-Ming throwing an Arcane Orb towards you that will kill Erik and give her a reset? Press Jump. Do be careful in it's usage, as it has a lengthy cooldown.

If you are learning Vikings, feel free to pick Hunka' Burning Olaf, it gives Olaf a Burning Rage effect, and can be nice at clearing Creep and revealing Stealth characters.
Large and In Charge
When Olaf charges enemies, they are stunned for 1 second.
Large and In Charge is my choice for this tier. Large and In Charge gives Olaf a lot more utility, allowing him to interrupt key ultimates and lock down squishy targets. I would recommend this talent to any new player as well, as it is easy to use, and will almost always get value. Impatience Is a Virtue can also be a viable talent, as it allows you to use your Ultimate and also Jump! more frequently.
Fury of the Storm
Every 5 seconds, your next Basic Attack will deal an additional 41 damage to the target, and 105 damage to all nearby Minions and Mercenaries. Each Viking has their own cooldown.
Fury of the Storm is my preference at Level 20. Each individual Viking has their own cooldown for Fury of the Storm, allowing you to clear waves in as little as 3 attacks, one from each Viking. This raises your gains of Experience quite a bit, and increases the speed at which you take Mercenary Camps in a situation where you do not have Viking Bribery charges.

If you took Longboat Raid, take Ragnarok 'n' Roll! as it makes the boat quite powerful and a force in teamfights, putting pressure on enemy healers with the damage. The Mortar range allows you to catch fleeing enemies.
Balance Patch - 3/14/17

Woah, this is great! We seem to have similar builds, which is awesome. It's always nice seeing another Lost Vikings player!
Juggernaut I had a ton a ton of fun making it, thanks! :D
I'm picking up TLV recently. and this is exactly the build that I'm referencing, to start with.
So far so good, the rest it's about how to communicate with the team, to maximize the effectiveness with TLV.
