AlexTheProG's new Xul build

When Bone Armor expires, nearby enemy Heroes take damage equal to 12% of their maximum Health.
Cause 2 Skeletons to spawn when you cast Bone Prison. These do not count toward the maximum limit of Skeletons you can own. Quest: Spawn Skeletal Warriors. Reward: After spawning 80 Skeletons, when Skeletal Warriors fixate on an enemy from Bone Prison they gain 50% Movement and Attack Speed.
Trag'Oul's Essence
Skeleton Basic Attacks restore 0.5% Health and 0.2% Mana.
Skeletal Mages
Summon 4 Frost Mages in a line that attack nearby enemies for 47 damage and slow them by 30% for 2 seconds. Lasts up to 15 seconds
Echoes of Death
After an additional 1.5 seconds, 2 more Spectral Scythes appear next to the first and travel back to Xul dealing 60% damage.
Bone Spear
Deal 230 damage to enemies in a line.
Mortal Wound
Enemies hit by Spectral Scythe receive 75% less healing for 4 seconds.

I don't understand this build at all. It lacks synergy. It feels like a troll build.
It has no synergy because he doesn't need to, it's a total hybrid build : Lvl 1 is situational IMO, lvl 4Grim Scythe is for a better uptime on W (So more splitpush power), lvl 7 Trag'Oul's Essence is for the sustain. Ult. lvl 13 Echoes of Death is to add some poke and more target for Mortal wound. Bone Spear for additional poke. You can duo soak by using W on every wave, skeleton allow you not to run out of mana too quickly, and in TF you are a semi caster that poke from afar with Q and Bone Spear, until you see a kill occasion on someone, that you will E to secure.
I saw a few pros using this but taking but poison nova instead of skeletons. Anyone know when you would take one over the other?
